i/Con Success Story: Implementation of SAP SuccessFactors at PERI
After the successful rollout of the pilot countries at the PERI GmbH Weißenhorn in July 2020, the task of the second wave was to implement SAP SuccessFactors for all employees in Sweden, Norway and especially Germany by November.
For the rollout of Employee Central at the headquarters in Weissenhorn, the plant Günzburg and all German branches, now the specific question arose: „How do we unite a running SAP HCM system with a payroll module and active time recording in the global cloud construct?”.
The solution: SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central as a hybrid solution.
Employee Central acts here as the leading system for capturing all relevant master data. From hiring to leaving, the complete lifecycle of an employee is recorded, maintained or changed in Employee Central. Thus, PERI has started a big step into the digital transformation and is „cloud-ready“ for the future.
The SAP SuccessFactors team of i/Con Unternehmensberatung under the project management of Florian Antes succeeded in a four-month period in establishing the existing SAP HCM system in the hybrid approach. Taking into account the previously developed global PERI standard, the master data maintenance was transformed completely to Employee Central as the leading master data collection system. Payroll, as well as active time management, will continue to be maintained in SAP HCM.
The benefits of this solution:
- One interface (web-based) for master data maintenance
- Jump from Employee Central via mashups in SAP HCM for further processing of payroll and time-relevant info types; no additional application is required here
- Role and authorization controlled worldwide access, especially in times of Corona (Home Office)
- Duplicate maintenance in several HRIS systems is no longer necessary
By configuring the replication interface using SAP’s „Cloud Platform Integration“ solution, all relevant information is automatically replicated to SAP HCM for further processing. This eliminates the need for duplicate maintenance and leaves more time for operational tasks in the HR area. Using the mashup technology, all payroll-relevant info types are called up directly from the respective employee profile. Thus, the HR administrator jumps from SAP SuccessFactors to SAP HCM via a WebDynpro application and can maintain the master data there using Single-Sign-On. The data is available in real time for further processing.
Thanks to the high level of commitment of the implementation team and the internal project team, all customer-specific configurations were adopted and the ongoing processes were mapped in Employee Central despite the very short project duration, which was carried out completely remotely. The subsequent payroll run for November was also carried out successfully and without errors.
The two-month sustain phase was also successfully completed in December, while the third roll-out wave with ten additional countries has already been underway since the beginning of November. This and the following waves will be reported separately after their respective Go-Lives.
